Obituary

William “Bill” Groover, 79, of Warren, passed away on June 9th, 2022.

Bill was born on July 3, 1942 in Greenville, PA to Lamont and Dorothy Groover.

Bill worked at GM Lordstown for 38 years and remained active as a retiree until his death. 

Bill spent two years in the US Army as an infantry soldier and was a Vietnam War veteran.  During his service, he received the following medals and commendations: Vietnam Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Combat Infantryman’s Badge and Sharpshooters and Rifle Expert.

He married Eileen Oakes on June 9, 1965 and they remained happily married for 57 years.  They welcomed two sons, Brian and Dean, two grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. 

He enjoyed attending live music events and Elvis impersonator performances, as well as bowling and cheering on the Mahoning Valley Scrappers.  He was also a lifelong New York Yankees, Pittsburgh Pirates, Boston Celtics and Pittsburgh Steelers fan.

He is survived by his wife, Eileen; two sons, Brian (Jenny) Groover and Dean (Molly) Groover; granddaughter, Jessica (Billy) Ross; grandson, Jackson Groover and great-granddaughter, Aubrey Ross, all of Warren.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Services will be private for Bill.
