Sylvia K. Meikle, 97, of Fowler, passed away Tuesday morning, August 30, 2022, at Sharon Regional Health System.
She was born September 13, 1924 in Plainfield, MA, the daughter of Elisha and Ethel Upham Kinney.
She was a homemaker and worked at Cleveland Brass in Kinsman for twenty four years as a laborer.
Sylvia was a charter member of the Hartford Community Church, where she was treasurer of the Ladies Guild. She also was a member of the former Hartford Grange #1479 and was a 4-H leader. While in MA, she volunteered at the USO.
She enjoyed decorating wedding cakes, painting, traveling and camping.
On January 15, 1944, she married Lee B. Meikle. He preceded her in death on June 12, 1983.
She is survived by two daughters, Kathleen (Eric) Miller of Franklin, N.C. and Marilyn Meikle of Brookfield; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Herbert and Frank Kinney.
In lieu of flowers, Sylvia requested that memorial contributions be made to the Hartford Community Church, P.O. Box 38, Hartford, Ohio 44424.
A brief internment service for close family and friends will take place at the Hartford Township Cemetery at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 13, 2022, which would have been her 98th birthday.
