Robert John Valesky, Sr.

Robert John Valesky, Sr., 90, of Jamestown, PA, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, July 5, 2021.

Bob was born at home on March 27, 1931 in Wildwood, PA, the son of Gustav and Mary Parlock Valesky.  Soon after his birth, the family moved to the Jamestown area.  He was a middle child in a large, active family. 

Just a few months after graduation, Bob married his high school sweetheart, Patricia Joyce Holsing, on September 2, 1949.  Together, they were blessed with four sons and 71 years of marriage.

He provided faithfully for his family by working as a welder at GATX in Masury, OH for decades.  He also served his community as a West Shenango Twp. supervisor for many years.

Bob was an active member of Stateline United Methodist Church in Jamestown.  In addition to making sure his family was in church every Sunday, he served in numerous leadership positions, taught the men’s Sunday School and worked with Youth.

Bob was an avid sportsman.  He spent countless hours bass fishing on Pymatuning Lake with his boys.  He and his wife were wonderful dance partners, enjoying many evenings of ballroom and square dancing.  Although Bob was skilled in many sports like swimming and ice skating, his greatest passion was baseball and softball.  He was first baseman for the Jamestown Redbirds and then enjoyed playing baseball and softball until he was 68 years old.  He was also a competitive card player, spending long happy evenings playing cards with his family, siblings and grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Patricia Valesky; three sons, Robert John (Jean) Valesky, Jr. of Edinboro, Mark Kevin (Christine) Valesky of Westerville, OH and Daniel Garth (Paula) Valesky of Meadville; three sisters, Mary Jane Youngblood of FL, Patsy (Douglas) Heath of OH and Karen (Edwin) Sarrach of Jamestown; and a brother, Donald Valesky of FL.  He was also a proud grandfather of 18 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Ronald Wayne Valesky; a sister, Evelyn Dahl; and four brothers, George, Norman, James Thomas and Richard Valesky

Friends and relatives may call at Stateline United Methodist Church, 263 West State Rd., Jamestown, PA 16134 on Saturday, July 10, 2021 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.  Followed by the funeral service at 1 p.m. with Rev. Dan Miller officiating.

Burial will be in Stateline Cemetery.
