Mavis L. Free

Mavis L. Free, 89, of Burghill, passed away Monday afternoon, November 17, 2025, at Concord Care of Hartford.

She was born February 5, 1936 in Cortland, the daughter of Milton L. and Margorie L. King Phillips.

She and her husband, Harlan D. Free, whom she married November 18, 1954, were self-employed farmers.

She enjoyed gardening and her flowers.  She also enjoyed music and dancing.

Mavis is survived by three daughters, Loraine (Richard) Watt of Andover, Julie Unangst of Burghill and Beverly (Billy) Hunkus; six grandchildren, Harley (Lois), Michael (Kasey), Stephen, Jacob, Davis and Dillon; four great-grandchildren, December (Devon), Natalie, Landon and Blake; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a sister, Joyce; three brothers, Darrell, Milton, Jr. and Merle; and a son-in-law, Steve Unangst.

At her request, there will be no services for Mavis.
