Lewis Kostoff, 91, of Hartford Township, passed away Friday afternoon, September 13, 2019, at his home.
He was born April 14, 1928 in Hartford, the son of Sam and Sylvia Josoff Kostoff.
He was a Navy veteran.
Lewis retired from Beckett Aviation at the Youngstown Airport, where he was an executive pilot for over thirty years. He then was a private pilot for the Timken family in Canton. He also was a military instructor for the Air Force.
He was a member of the Hartford United Methodist Church, the Hartford Masonic Lodge, the Hartford Optimist Club, the Hartford Zoning Commission, and the Trumbull County Planning Commission.
He enjoyed maintaining the family farm, building vintage aircraft, and reading history. He designed and built a damn and covered bridge at his home.
He is survived by his wife, Janet Collins Kostoff, whom he married December 17, 1952; two sons, Lynn (Melanie) Kostoff of Florence, S.C. and Ronald Kostoff of Phoenix, AZ; and three grandchildren.
Lewis was preceded in death by a son, Randall Kostoff, in 1998 and two brothers.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, September 18, 2019, at 11 a.m. at the Galloway-Onstott Funeral Home, 3451 St. Rt. 7, Hartford. Rev. MaryAnn Rufener of the Hartford United Methodist Church will officiate.
