Hazel Underwood

Hazel E. Underwood, 97, of Warren, passed away Sunday morning, October 11, 2020 at Continuing Healthcare of Niles.

She was born September 26, 1923 in Hartford, Ohio, the daughter of Clayton D. and Julia J. Henry Hightree.

She was a 1943 graduate of Hartford High School.  She worked with her husband, Rev. Gilbert Underwood, a Nazarene evangelist, whom she married June 29, 1946.  She was by his side until his passing December 27, 1987.

She is survived by a step-daughter, Barbara Kirk of Arizona and several nieces and nephews.  One of which helped in her last years, Julia Yeager of Burghill.

She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Lena Holm and Ruby Worona, and two brothers, Dick and Emerson Hightree.

Calling hours will be held at the Galloway-Onstott Funeral Home, 3451 St. Rt. 7, Hartford on Friday, October 16, 2020 from noon to 1 p.m. Social distancing will be observed along with the wearing of masks.

The funeral service will follow at 1 p.m. with Rev. MaryAnn Rufener officiating.

Burial will be in the Hartford Township Cemetery.
