George Lewis Stevens Jr., 86, of Cortland, entered into God’s Kingdom peacefully in the early morning hours of October 18, 2023, surrounded by family at St. Joseph Health Center.
He was born March 12, 1937 in Williamsfield, Ohio, the son of George L. Stevens Sr. and Alice Williams Stevens.
He was a veteran of the U. S. Air Force at the end of the Korean War.
He was an assembler at Taylor Winfield. He also worked for Vernon and Johnston townships.
George attended the Fowler Community Church and belonged to the Mecca Moose.
George, the most loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather, is survived by his wife, Delores Spencer Stevens, whom he married July 3, 1959; children, Mary (Steve) Rondini, Becky (Frank) McConahy, George III (Kelly) Stevens, Jennifer (William) Simmons, and Michael (Janice) Stevens; 12 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; his faithful dog, Annie; and a brother, Harlan (Sandra) Stevens. He was a truly great man who will be forever missed by his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents and three sisters, Virginia, Louise and Dorothy.

Family and friends may call at the Galloway-Onstott Funeral Home, 3451 St. Rt. 7, Hartford on Sunday, October 22, 2023 from 3 to 5 p.m.
The funeral service will be at the funeral home on Monday, October 23, at 11 a.m. with Rev. MaryAnn Rufener officiating.
Burial will be in Johnston Cemetery.
