William J. Longwell, 75, of Masury, formerly of Burghill, passed away at Sharon Regional Medical Center ER on Monday morning, July 18, 2022.
He was born February 23, 1947 in Wheeling, W.V., the son of Donald and Florence Newlon Longwell.
After graduation from Badger High School, he was drafted into the Army. He was stationed in Germany as an MP.
After 40 years, he retired from Delphi where he was a mold setter.
He was a member of the Hubbard Church of the Nazarene.
William was a devoted and loving husband, father and grandfather. He enjoyed people and joking around. He loved fishing, gardening, traveling and finding restaurants to eat at.
William is survived by his wife, Ruby Garvey Longwell, whom he married November 14, 1969; his daughter, Kimberly Custer of Masury; his son, Shawn (Carrie) Longwell of Kinsman; his step-son, Raymond Weitershausen of Masury; five grandchildren, Michelle (David), Christopher, Tiffany, Téa and Sherrie; six great-grandchildren, Emily, Benjamin, Lydia, Chelsey, Angel and Crystal; a brother, Jim Longwell and a sister-in-law, Evelyn "Kay" Longwell .
He was preceded in death by his parents; infant son, Scott Longwell; step-son, Christopher Weitershausen; grandson, Kevin Weitershausen; brother, Ronald Longwell and sister-in-law, Gail Longwell.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 27, 2022, for family and friends at the Hubbard Church of the Nazarene, 1815 Cherry Lane Dr., Hubbard 44425. Pastor Mike Byus will officiate.
Burial will be in Hartford Township Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to the church or to the mission’s committee of the church in William’s name.
