HARTFORD - William J. Chachko, 60, of Hartford, passed away Wednesday, July 29, 2020, at home surrounded by family.
William was born Dec. 5, 1959 in Warren, the son of the late William V. and Genevieve T. Chachko.
He was a graduate of Lakeview class of 1978. He also attended Youngstown State University where he graduated with bachelors in Mechanical Engineering, where he met his future wife.
He proudly worked at General Electric at the Ohio Lamp Plant on Dana Street, for 34 years as a line mechanic. He retired in 2014.
He was an active member in the community, where he participated in the Hartford Optimist Club, supporting local youth organizations. He was also involved in his sons’ Cub Scout Packs and Boy Scouts and coaching their baseball teams. Bill also served on the Hartford Zoning Board.
William enjoyed playing golf and making syrup from local maple trees in the spring.
He married Jacquelyn Broll on Feb. 18 1984 and with her shared 36 years.
He is survived by his wife and three sons, William M. of Ravenna, Jonathan J. (Allison) of West Farmington, and Michael H. of Hartford; and one granddaughter, Sophia J. of West Farmington; his brother, Daniel J. (Laurie) of Macedonia; his uncle, Deacon Joseph P. (Bonnie) Toth Jr. of Hartford and his many nieces and nephews.
Private services will be held Sunday, August 2, 2020, at Galloway-Onstott Funeral Home, 3451 St. Rt. 7, Hartford. Masks will be required and social distancing will be practiced by those who attend.
The family would like to thank the Hope Center, MVI, and all of the doctors and nurses in his fight with pancreatic cancer.
