James R. Sherwood, 76, of Burghill, passed away Wednesday night, November 30, 2022, at Concord Care of Hartford.
He was born December 21, 1945 in Warren, the son of Robert and Eileen Rumpler Sherwood.
He was a graduate of Southington High School and Hiram College, where he met his wife Barbara.
He married Barbara Hickle on December 14, 1968.
James worked for the city of Warren water department as a chemist. He kept the water safe to drink. He retired after working 31 years.
He belonged to the 1st Presbyterian Church of Warren. He was a deacon, a trustee and a youth group leader in the church. He also belonged to the Hartford Historical Society.
He loved anything to do with nature and the environment. He could name trees and birds at a distance.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara Sherwood; a brother, Philip (Linda) Sherwood of Parkman; nieces and nephews; his “little brother” Matt Haught of the Big Brother/Big Sister association; his dog, Raine, a rough coat collie and his many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Eric Sherwood.

A memorial service will be held at the 1st Presbyterian Church of Warren, 256 Mahoning Ave, Warren, Ohio 44483 on Saturday December 3, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. Rev. Dr. Betty Angelini will officiate.
Barbara will greet family and friends after the service at the church.
