Charles Timko Obituary

Charles Frederick Timko, 85, of Brookfield, OH passed away peacefully at home with his family by his side on Sunday, November 28, 2021, after a long battle with pulmonary fibrosis.

Charlie, as he was affectionately known by his family and friends, was born August 19, 1936 to John and Susan Korpa Timko in Masury.

He was a 1954 graduate of Mathews High School in Vienna.

He loved racing go-carts, boating and water-skiing as a young man. He had a gift for mechanics, carpentry and woodworking.  He enjoyed tennis and snow skiing, having taught all four of his grandsons at a young age, and golfing with his buddies and wife.  But most of all, he loved to soak up the sun lying by the pool, hosting family reunions and swim parties with friends.

He wed the love of his life, Sandy Brady, on April 12, 1958 and they began a 63 year long journey together.  They were blessed to enjoy a full and happy marriage building and expanding their home through the years, raising three children and traveling.

In 1995, he retired from UPS in Girard after 34 years of service, where he began as a local package driver and then as a double semi “feeder” driver, making nightly turnpike trips to Middleburg Heights and western PA.  In his spare time, he did many home remodeling projects for family and friends.

He was an active member of the Hartford United Methodist Church for over 60 years and a past member of the Brookfield Optimist Club.

He is survived by his wife, Sandy; a daughter, Darlene Russo of Brookfield; two sons, Mark (Leigh Ann) Timko of Fowler and Harry Timko of Palm Springs, CA; six grandchildren, Jason (Jen) Russo, Jared Russo, Dan Timko, Luke Timko, Autumn Timko, and Lindsay Pumphrey; and three great-grandchildren, Riley, Jax and Abby Russo.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by eight brothers, George, Earl, John, Robert (Martha), Richard “Bill”, Ronald, Donald, and Larry Timko; two sisters, Dorothy Goodworth and Betty Richards; his mother and father-in-law, Harry and Dorothy Brady; and his grandparents, Dave and Babe Schladen.

The family wishes to thank Mercy Health Hospice of the Valley for the care , concern and support during the past several months.

In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be made in his name to the Hartford United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 36, Hartford, OH 44424; to Hospice of the Valley, 5190 Market St. Youngstown, OH 44512 or to the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation at pulmonaryfibrosis.org.
