                                   Ronald Pettitt

Ronald Pettitt, 82, of Fowler, passed away Sunday, September 9, 2018, at St. Elizabeth Health Center.

He was born April 29, 1936 in Sharon, the son of Arthur Howard Pettitt and Alma Hudspeth Pettitt.

He was a Hartford High School graduate and an Army veteran.

He retired from Taylor Winfield after working 28 years as a maintenance supervisor and working on the test floor.

Ronald was a member of the Hartford Community Church, where he was a former Elder and trustee and funded the restoration of the bell tower in memory of his wife, Phyllis.  He was also a retired assistant chief of the Hartford Fire Department.

He enjoyed NASCAR, travel and his family.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Phyllis Smith Pettitt, on March 11, 2007.  They were married December 20, 1958.

He is survived by two sons, Michael (Liz) Pettitt of Rock Hill, S.C. and Martin Pettitt of Fowler; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a sister, Mary Witchey of Hartford Twp.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in his name to the Hartford Community Church, P.O. Box 38, Hartford, Ohio 44424 or online to www.ostomy.org.

Friends and relatives may call at Galloway-Onstott Funeral Home, 3451 St. Rt. 7, Hartford on Wednesday, September 12, from 4 to 7 p.m.

The funeral service will be held at the Hartford Community Church, 3312 St. Rt. 7, Hartford, on Thursday, September 13, at 11 a.m.  Rev. Scott Flanders will officiate .

Burial will be in Hartford Township Cemetery.
