Aulton James Messersmith
Aulton James “Jim” Messersmith, 86, passed away Monday morning, March 18, 2019, at his home in Culleoka, Tenn. He formerly lived in Hartford and Kinsman.
He was born April 30, 1932 in his beloved Hartford, the son of Albert and Hazel Davis Messersmith.
He was a Hartford High School graduate and a Korean War veteran.
He was a retired factory worker and attended the Hartford United Methodist Church.
Jim enjoyed building homes, NASCAR, riding his motorcycle, until he wrecked it and taking his family on adventures. He loved making people laugh and will be greatly missed by all who knew him, especially his little dog, Murphy.
He is survived by his wife, Delores Dickman Messersmith, whom he married June 2, 1956; three daughters, Donna (John) Horodyski of Kinsman, Joan Baker of Culleoka, TN and Sandra Wilson of Burghill; two sons, Rodney Messersmith of Hubbard and William (Tiffany) Messersmith of Damascus, MD; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren;and a brother, Gary (Mary) Messersmith of Virginia Beach, VA.
He was preceded in death by five sisters, Beatrice Messersmith, Nema Edwards, Dorothy Parkhurst, Altha Sallaz and Betty Johnson, and three brothers, Donald, Gerald and Ronald Messersmith.
Cremation will take place and no services will take place at this time.
