Brenda L. Giering

On Wednesday, January 24, 2024, the Lord called Brenda Giering home.  She was surrounded by family and loved ones.

Brenda was born August 10, 1957 in Warren, the daughter of Robert N. and Shirley A. Giering. She was the first of four children.

She was a 1976 graduate of Mathews High School and retired from work in 2020.

Brenda had an unwavering love for animals, nature and all living things. Her love and respect for animals was shared by her son, Shaun.  They often visited the zoo and nature parks.

Brenda enjoyed fashion and creating her own unique styles.  She often donned eccentric hairstyles, bright colored clothing and complemented them with her vast collection of costume jewelry.

She also enjoyed bingo, creating artwork, decorating for the holidays, listening to the music of Sam Fosh and discussing life with her friend, Sherri.

Her courage and tenacity throughout her battle with cancer was admirable.  She was always ready for an adventure, even after a chemo infusion.

Family meant the world to Brenda.  She cherished every moment she spent with them.  She is survived by her son, Shaun (Rachelle) Giering of Youngstown; grandchildren, Calvin and Zachary; her siblings, Lynn, Robert Jr., and Troy; niece, Megan and nephews, Chase and Ryan.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

The family would like to extend their thanks to Buckeye Hospice for making Brenda comfortable throughout her transition.  The family would also like to express their gratitude to the staff of CHS Niles, especially Melissa, Sara, Nicolle, and Alexis.

Galloway-Onstott Funeral Home, 3451 Sr. Rt. 7, Hartford has been entrusted with arrangements, where friends and relatives may call on Saturday, February 3, 2024 from 2 to 3:30 p.m. with a spiritual service  taking place at 3:30. 

Burial of her cremains will take place at a future date in Hartford Township Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that contributions be made to the Trumbull County Animal Welfare League, 812 Youngstown Kingsville Rd. SE, Vienna, OH 44473 or to the Healthy Hearts and Paws Project, 384 Collar Price Rd., Brookfield OH 44403 in Brenda’s name.
